Profit Agent: Full Capabilities Overview
At a glance: The Profit Agent is your always-on analyst inside Lifetimely. You can ask it anything about your store in plain language, and it can act on what it finds — building dashboards, creating audiences, drafting upsell offers, remembering the details that matter to your business, and working alongside you in Slack. This guide covers everything it can do today and where to find each feature.
Where to find it
Open Profit Agent from the left-hand menu in Lifetimely. You'll see five areas:
- Command center — your starting point. Ask a question, pick a prompt from the Prompt library, or pick up a Recent chat. This is also where the agent surfaces proactive Profit Agent insights about your store.
- Chat history — every conversation you've had, searchable, with the option to save the ones you want to keep.
- Action history — a log of everything the agent has done for you, with a status on each (Pending, Done, or Failed).
- Upsells — set up and manage post-purchase and checkout upsell offers.
- Retention — analyse your customers and create Profit Audiences.
Ask anything about your store
The Command center is a chat box: type a question the way you'd ask a colleague, and the agent answers using your Lifetimely data and any tools you've connected. It can make sense of your analytics, spot issues, uncover opportunities, and take action on what it finds.
Questions merchants ask every day include things like:
- "What's my new-customer AOV over the last 14 days?"
- "How are my subscription orders trending over the last 3 months?"
- "Which of my VIPs are at risk of churning?"
- "What should I focus on this week?"
Tip: the more context you give it, the sharper the answer. Include the time period, the metrics you care about, and any specifics about how your store works.
You can also start from the Prompt library if you'd like ready-made examples, or browse Recent chats to continue where you left off. Below the chat box, Profit Agent insights highlights patterns the agent has already noticed in your data — a quick way to find something worth acting on without asking first.
Build custom dashboards
Ask the agent to build a dashboard and it will assemble one for you in a few minutes — no setup screens or manual configuration. You describe what you want to track, and it builds the metrics, date-range filters, and period-over-period comparisons around it.
Because dashboards are built from a description, you can be as specific as you like: define exactly how a KPI should be calculated, which data source to use, which statuses to include or exclude, and how to handle currency and time zones. If a dashboard isn't quite right, tell the agent what to change and it will rebuild it.
Dashboards live under Dashboards in Lifetimely and can be pinned so the whole team sees the same view.
Create audiences and sync them to Klaviyo
From the Retention area, ask the agent to analyse your customers and it will propose a Profit Audience — for example, a win-back audience of lapsed high-value customers, or a VIP audience built from your lifetime-value data.
There are two kinds:
- Profit Audiences (auto-updating) — the audience refreshes on its own as customers move in and out of it.
- Profit Audiences (one-off) — a snapshot of who qualifies at the moment it's created.
One thing worth knowing about Klaviyo: when a Profit Audience is synced to Klaviyo, it appears there as a Klaviyo list, not a Klaviyo segment. This is expected. Klaviyo segments are rules built on Klaviyo's own data, whereas a Profit Audience is built on your Lifetimely data — so it's pushed across as a list. If you asked for a "segment" and see the word "list," nothing has gone wrong; it's the same audience, delivered in the form Klaviyo supports for this kind of data.
Create upsell offers
From the Upsells area, the Profit Agent can create and manage post-purchase and checkout upsell offers for you. There are three tabs:
Upsells overview — see your offers and how they're performing.
Guardrails — the rules the agent must follow when it generates offers, so every offer stays on-brand and profitable:
- Offer display rules — for example, don't offer products already in the order, don't show offers on subscription orders, and whether to allow discounts or stick to full price only.
- Language and urgency — set the tonality (e.g. Casual) and how much urgency the copy should carry (e.g. Mild).
- Profit margin floor — a minimum acceptable profit margin after any discount. The agent treats this as a hard limit when it picks discount tiers, so it won't propose an offer that drops you below it.
- Prohibited terms — words or phrases the agent must never use in generated copy.
- Exclusions — products or scenarios to keep out of offers entirely.
Store surfaces — control how offers appear to shoppers. For the post-purchase surface you can toggle the title, announcement, and upsell blocks; set the accept and decline button text; choose the layout; and switch display options like the quantity selector, price breakdown, and compare-at price on or off. A live preview shows exactly what the customer will see.
It remembers what matters to your store
The Profit Agent has memory. The simplest way to use it: just tell the agent to remember something — for example, how you define a product family, which SKUs to exclude from a calculation, or a cost figure it should reuse. Asking it to remember saves that information, and it will draw on it in future answers.
You can see what it has saved, and everything it does, in Action history — each item shows what the agent did, when, and whether it completed. "Save memory" entries are the facts you've asked it to hold onto.
Work with it in Slack
The Profit Agent can come into your Slack workspace, so you can ask it questions and receive updates without leaving where your team already works. Once it's connected and invited to a channel, you can @mention it to ask anything about your store, set up scheduled reports of your key numbers, and ask it to flag the things you've told it are urgent.
Setup takes three steps and one that people often miss (inviting the agent to the channel). The full walkthrough is here: Profit Agent: Getting the Profit Agent in Slack.
The data it works from
The agent answers using your Lifetimely store data plus the tools you've connected under Data sources and AI connections — for example Klaviyo, your subscription platform, and survey tools. The more of your stack you connect, the more the agent can do.
Two things help it stay accurate:
- Costs & expenses — keep your product costs up to date (you can upload them) so profit and margin figures, and the margin floor on upsells, are calculated correctly.
- Connections can lapse — some integrations, such as Klaviyo, use an authorisation that can expire over time. If the agent mentions a connection or token has expired, reconnecting the integration in settings restores it.
FAQ
Does it remember things about my store? Yes. Ask it to remember something and it saves that information for future conversations. You can review what it has saved in Action history.
I asked for a Klaviyo segment, but the card says it creates a list. Is that a mistake? No. A Profit Audience is built from your Lifetimely data, and that syncs to Klaviyo as a list rather than a Klaviyo segment. It's the same audience — just delivered in the form Klaviyo supports for this data.
Can it build a dashboard for me, or do I have to set it up myself? It builds it for you. Describe what you want to track and it assembles the dashboard; tell it what to adjust and it rebuilds.
Will it apply upsell offers without my say-so? You set the guardrails, and offers appear on your store's surfaces once they're published. The guardrails (margin floor, prohibited terms, display rules, exclusions) constrain what the agent is allowed to generate.
What can it see in Slack? It uses your Lifetimely and connected-integration data to generate its answers and reports, and it can read messages in the channels it's been added to. It has no access to anything else in your workspace. More detail is in the Slack setup guide.
Does it do anything on its own? Today you're in the driver's seat — you ask, it answers and acts. It will also proactively surface insights in the Command center, but the actions it takes are the ones you approve.
