Shopify Data Sync: What to Expect

At a glance: Learn what to expect during the initial data sync from Shopify to Lifetimely, and how often your data updates after setup.

Definitions

  • Initial Sync: The first time you connect Lifetimely to your Shopify store, it pulls in all historical orders and product data.
  • LTV (Lifetime Value) Report: An advanced report that requires additional processing to calculate cohorts and customer behavior.

How syncing works

Data sync from Shopify happens in two stages, with different timelines:

  • Orders and Products (Initial Sync): Your historical orders and product data are synced first. This forms the foundation for all reports.
  • Advanced Reports: Reports like the LTV Report, Customer Retention, and Product Journeys are processed after the initial orders and products sync is complete.

Ongoing data updates

After the initial sync is complete, Lifetimely keeps your data up to date automatically:

  • Shopify updates: New orders, customers, and updates from your Shopify store sync to Lifetimely every hour.
  • Advanced reports: Updates to advanced reports (e.g., LTV, Customer Retention, Product Journeys) may take additional processing time after each hourly sync.

Use cases

  • Setting up Lifetimely: After installation, the initial sync for orders and products usually completes within 6–24 hours, depending on store size.
  • Waiting for advanced reports: Reports such as LTV, repurchase behavior, or product journeys require additional processing. Allow up to another 24 hours after the orders and products sync is complete.
  • Ongoing reporting: Once setup is complete, you can expect Shopify orders and customer data to refresh hourly, keeping reports close to real time.

If it’s been more than 24 hours and you still don’t see your orders or products in Lifetimely, please get in touch with our support team so we can take a look.

Troubleshooting

  • My data is still syncing after 24 hours: If more than 24 hours have passed since installation and you don’t see orders or products in your account, contact Lifetimely support for assistance.
  • My reports look outdated: Wait for the next hourly sync, and allow time for advanced reports to process. If data still looks stale after several hours, contact support.
