Lifetimely: Connect Lifetimely to ChatGPT
At a glance: Connect Lifetimely to ChatGPT as a custom app using the Lifetimely MCP server URL. Once connected, you can query your store's Lifetimely data directly from a ChatGPT conversation.
What this enables
Adding Lifetimely as a custom app in ChatGPT lets you ask questions about your store's profitability, customer lifetime value, cohort performance, and marketing data without leaving your conversation.
What you'll need
- A ChatGPT account on a Business, Enterprise, or Education plan
- Admin or Owner access to your ChatGPT workspace
- The Lifetimely MCP server URL (find this in Lifetimely under Settings → Integrations → AI Connections)
Note on terminology: As of December 2025, OpenAI renamed "connectors" to "apps." If you see references to connectors in older documentation, these are the same thing.
Setup steps
Step 1 - Enable developer mode (admin only)
- Go to Workspace Settings → Permissions and Roles → Connected Data.
- Toggle on Developer mode / Create custom MCP connectors.
Step 2 - Create the Lifetimely app
- Go to Settings → Apps and Connectors.
- Click Create.
- Fill in the app details: App name: Lifetimely; Description: Lifetimely analytics - ask about customer LTV, cohort analysis, profit and loss, and store performance metrics; App URL: paste the Lifetimely MCP server URL.
- Click Create. If successful, ChatGPT will display the list of available Lifetimely tools.
Step 3 - Test and publish
- Open a new chat and select Lifetimely from the tools menu.
- Test with a question like "What is my net profit for the last 30 days?"
- Once verified, an Admin can publish from Workspace Settings → Apps to make it available to the workspace.
Using Lifetimely in a ChatGPT conversation
Click the + button near the message box, select More, and choose Lifetimely from the list.
Example questions to try:
- "Show me my income statement for this month."
- "Which cohort from Q4 last year has the best repurchase rate?"
- "What's my blended ROAS across all ad platforms?"
Troubleshooting
Create button not appearing: Developer mode must be enabled by a workspace admin first. Check Workspace Settings → Permissions and Roles → Connected Data.
Connection test fails: Confirm the MCP server URL is correct and publicly accessible.
App not visible to team members: The app must be published by an Admin from Workspace Settings → Apps.

Data freshness
When you initialise a Lifetimely MCP session, a snapshot of your store data is loaded for that session. This snapshot is valid for up to 4 hours from initialisation. After that window the data clears, and the session needs to be re-initialised to load a fresh snapshot.
This is not a rolling sync cycle — data does not update automatically in the background during a session. If you placed an order or made a change in Lifetimely and it is not showing in your AI conversation, it is likely either within an active session that predates that change, or the session has expired and needs re-initialising.
