Slide Cart: How to Set Up a Countdown Timer

At a glance: Add a countdown timer to your cart by creating an announcement with the [countdown] tag and setting a duration of 1–60 minutes.

What the countdown timer does

The countdown timer displays a live ticking clock inside a cart announcement, creating urgency for customers to complete their purchase. When the timer expires, the announcement resets.

How to set it up

1. In the Slide Cart dashboard, go to Features → Cart Announcements.
2. Create a new announcement.
3. Write your announcement text and include the tag [countdown] where you want the timer to appear. For example: "Hurry! Offer ends in [countdown]"
4. Go to the Appearance tab and find the Functionality settings.
5. Set your countdown duration — between 1 and 60 minutes.
6. Click Save.

Tips

• The timer resets each time a customer opens the cart — it's session-based, not tied to a fixed end time.
• Pair the timer with a discount announcement for maximum urgency effect.
• Keep the announcement copy short — the timer draws the eye, so the surrounding text just needs to give it context.
