Bundles: Why does my bundle show on products or variants not included in the bundle?

When setting up a bundle, you may notice the widget sometimes appears on product variants that aren’t directly included in the bundle. This is expected behaviour and depends on the type of bundle you’re using.

Classic Bundles

The widget always shows at the product level, regardless of which variant is currently selected.

  • Example: If your bundle includes only the Blue T-shirt variant, the widget will still appear when viewing the Red T-shirt variant.
  • Why: This behaviour is intentional to help drive upsell — shoppers viewing non-included variants can still see the offer and switch to the included products.

Buy X Get Y Bundles

Same as Classic Bundles — the widget shows at the product level regardless of selected variant, for the same upsell reason.

Volume Discount Bundles

These depend on Shopify’s native variant selector and Add to Cart button.

  • The widget only shows for variants that are included in the discount.
  • If you switch to a variant that’s excluded, the widget will not appear.

Summary

  • Classic & BxGy Bundles → Widget shows at the product level (even for non-included variants).
  • Volume Discounts → Widget visibility is tied to the selected variant.

👉 This is the current expected behaviour in Bundles. If you’d like more control over variant-level widget display, we’d love your feedback.
